On 3/8/09 when we had severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches, this site showed a radar picture over 12 hours old! The time stamp in the upper left corner is the time of the last update, shown in UTC time (to convert to Central time click here). Midwest Radar Summary from Intellicast This image shows the storm tops, whether hail is detected, whether rotation is detected in the cell ("meso") and the direction and speed of cell movement. "TVS" stands for Tornadic Vortex Signature meaning a possible tornado or funnel cloud in the cell. Caution: This is only updated around the top of the hour, and cannot be relied upon by pilots / dispatchers for flight planning. |
